CPSO INVESTIGATES TWO TRAFFIC FATALITY IN LAKE CHARLES

Last night at approximately 9:15 the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the intersection of Red Davis McCollister Rd. and Southpark Dr. in Lake Charles in reference to a two-vehicle crash. When deputies arrived they discovered a collision had occurred between a pickup truck and an SUV and both vehicles were overturned in a nearby pasture.

Evidence at the scene indicate the truck was heading westbound on Red Davis McCollister Rd. and the SUV was heading southbound on Southpark Drive. The preliminary investigation reveals the truck failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection, colliding into the SUV.

Caleb Broussard, 15, Iowa, a passenger in the truck, was pronounced dead at the scene, while a second passenger, Robert A. Pyle, 18, Iowa, died later at a local hospital. Another passenger and the driver of the truck were transported to a local hospital

Both the driver and the passenger of the SUV were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The passenger was treated and released.

The investigation is continuing and charges may be filed pending the outcome of the investigation. Although impairment is not suspected at this time, in accordance with Louisiana state law, standard toxicology testing was performed on both drivers.

CPSO Sgt. Jude Sonnier and Sgt. Luke Pierrotti are the lead investigators.

At that intersection they need a caution light or red light so nobody else dies because a lot of people don't see the stop sign there. Please do something about that and soon.Every life matters.
