Lake Charles –
On July 29 at approximately 7:40 p.m. the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office received a call regarding a possible drowning in the Calcasieu River on Mims Road in Westlake.
When deputies arrived it was learned Danny L. Gabbard, 60, Lake Charles, was on a boat in the river, when he jumped into the water and did not resurface. Other witnesses at the scene located Gabbard’s body under the water prior to deputies’ arrival and attempted to revive him. Once deputies arrived, Gabbard was transported to a local hospital. He was pronounced dead on July 30.
