Lake Charles –
On Friday, August 31 the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted a DWI checkpoint in the 3100 block of Westwood Drive in Westlake to target individuals driving under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics.
Nine hundred ninety-one (991) vehicles were checked; eleven (11) field sobriety tests were administered; two (2) citations were issued for open container; two (2) citations were issued for expired motor vehicle inspection sticker; and one (1) citation was issued for careless operation.
The following individuals were issued a signed summons and released:
John S. Hooper, 55, Westlake, was arrested for DWI 1st offense
Thomas W. Cordle, 39, Westlake, was arrested for DWI 1st offense
Holly P. Harris, 18, Lake Charles, was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia
A juvenile, Lake Charles, was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia
Participating in the checkpoint was the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office along with the Sulphur Police Department and the Lake Charles City Police.
