CPSO ARRESTS MAN FOR FAILURE TO REGISTER AS A SEX OFFENDER

Lake Charles –

On May 7 a Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy was conducting a routine sex offender check on convicted sex offender, Lorenzo Mays, Jr., 42, Lake Charles.  During the check the deputy was unable to locate Mays at the residence listed on his sex offender registration.  During the investigation the deputy was advised by the homeowner that Mays did not live at that address; making him in violation of his sex offender registration requirements.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriffs Office Sex Offender detectives continued attempts to locate Mays but were unsuccessful so on May 11 detectives issued a warrant for his arrest signed by Judge Robert Wyatt.

On May 14 Mays was located at a residence on Holmes Street in Lake Charles and arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with failure to register as a sex offender 2nd offense.  His bond is set at $10,000.

Mays was convicted of carnal knowledge of a juvenile in 2005 in Calcasieu Parish.  Mays was additionally convicted of failure to register as a sex offender in 2007 and again in 2014.

CPSO Detective Cory Myers is the lead investigator on this case.
