CPSO PARTICIPATES IN DRIVE SOBER OR GET PULLED OVER

Lake Charles –

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is participating in the national crackdown on drunk driving with grant funding from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.  The campaign, which starts Friday, December 16, and ends Sunday, January 1, ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,’ is a partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to curb impaired driving and save lives.  During this campaign, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office will conduct a DWI checkpoint along with having increased deputies on the road, aimed at targeting people who are driving under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics.  The checkpoint will be held at an undisclosed location in the parish on Friday, December 30.

“In 2021 more than half of the traffic fatalities the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office investigated involved impairment.  Crashes involving impairment can be easily prevented and being a responsible driver is simple, if you are drinking do not drive.  By joining this nationwide effort, we will make Calcasieu Parish roadways safer for everyone,” said Calcasieu Sheriff Tony Mancuso.
