CPSO ASSISTING SEARCH FOR WORK RELEASE INMATE

UPDATE: On November 11, at approximately 1:15 p.m., after further investigation, CPSO detectives located Brown at a residence on Illinois Street in Lake Charles.

 

Lake Charles, LA –

 

On Monday, October 30, Derrick W. Brown, 38, Lake Charles, a Department of Corrections work release inmate who was housed at Louisiana Workforce in DeQuincy, walked off his jobsite at a business on Highway 171 in Moss Bluff. 

           

Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies with the assistance of Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies immediately began assisting Louisiana Workforce in the search for Brown.  During the investigation, BPSO issued a warrant, signed by Judge Kerry Anderson in the amount of $250,000, for the arrest of Brown, charging him with simple escape.

           

CPSO & BPSO deputies have been unable to locate Brown and are asking the public for assistance. 

           

If anyone knows of his whereabouts, they are asked to call CPSO at (337) 491-3795.  If anyone is found to be assisting or harboring Brown, they will be charged accordingly. 

 

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged.   A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
